We often get the question from new importers: how do I import into New Zealand. One of the most important websites is the NZ Transport Agency's page on "Used vehicles from Japan". This page will give you the information you need to feel comfortable for importing. We already know what is needed, so you don't need to worry.
As a general rule, we would suggest staying with model year 2004 or newer. In some cases, vehicles registered in 2003 are ok, as they are 2004 models.
